We are very much South Londoners, rarely will you find us north of the river but after spending a lovely afternoon with Tim & Menna for their engagement shoot we both said we could see the attraction of the North! Our day started in Islington – a haven of cafes, bakeries and boutiques – and a quick visit to the ceremony venue before meeting up with the couple at their favourite coffee shop in Finsbury Park. Boulangerie Bon Matin is a tiny French patisserie with the most amazing coffee and pastries – by far the best fuel for a photo shoot!
We asked Tim & Menna to choose a location for their engagement shoot that meant something to them. They choose the Parkland Walk – a 4.5 mile linear green walkway that passes the end of their street. It follows the course of the railway line that used to run between Finsbury Park and Alexandra Palace. A local nature reserve, it proved to be the most wonderful of place to shoot in!
We started shooting through tunnels of trees and greenery with plenty of sunshine, marvelling at such a hidden spot before stumbling on the brightest, boldest, graffiti wall you could image – such a contrast to the rural greenery but also such a delight to discover, it gave our shoot a completely different edge!
We finished off with the golden hour in Finsbury Park over-looking the London skyline, before shooting our last few photos as the sun set.
What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon; we simply cannot wait for Tim & Menna’s North London wedding in a few weeks time!
Here are a few of our favourite photos from the day!
