We love a London wedding! There’s something exciting about shooting in the city & as photographers Jess & Luke’s August bank holiday celebration was everything we could have hoped for! (Perhaps minus the customary bank holiday rain…)
Their day couldn’t have started more differently, Jess, her bridesmaids & her parents spent a relaxing morning getting ready in a stunning Kensington Apartment. I arrived as the champagne was being poured & the Sunday papers spread out ready to be read. Hair in curlers, the girls were chatting, listening to music & doing their own make-up!
Luke & his groomsmen meanwhile were enjoying a fry-up, finishing writing their speeches, doing up their ties and heading across London by cab, train, tube and foot from Jess & Luke’s apartment south of the river!
The ceremony was at The Church of Our Lady of the Assumption & St Gregory in Soho. The arriving by black cab, the guys on foot…
The Church of Our Lady of the Assumption & St Gregory is Jess’ family Church & despite not being able to have a full mass because Luke isn’t Catholic, it was important to her to get married there. It’s not just the family Church, it’s where her parents & her Aunt & Uncle were married. Her parents actually met at the Church at her Aunt & Uncles wedding and her cousin Gregory is named after the Saint!
After the ceremony red London buses took the guests to Devonshire Square in Bishopsgate for the reception. In the shadow of the city it was the perfect host to Jess & Luke’s modern, contemporary London wedding. They arrived by black cab to a tunnel of confetti & the congratulations of their family & friends & were the last to fall into a black cab at the end of the night!
Jess & Luke, it was an absolute pleasure to share you wedding day with you, we loved every minute & are thrilled you chose us to document your day! Here are just a few of our favourite photos to tell your story!
Ally & AJ xx
Jess had personalised hangers made for her & her bridesmaids dresses!
When Luke proposed to Jess (read their engagement story here) he had champagne but the cottage they were staying in didn’t have any glasses, so they toasted their engagement with champagne drunk out of mugs. On their wedding morning Luke had delivered to the apartment where Jess was staying a bottle of champagne and a tray of mugs!
Jess’ Dad & her bridesmaids hadn’t seen her dress until the big reveal!
Luke & his groomsmen started their journey to his wedding at East Croydon Station…
And arrived at the Church by foot!
Having left enough time for a quick pint before the ceremony!
In the shadow of the city Devonshire Square was a great venue!
All the tables were named after wrestlers!
Instead of a traditional wedding cake Jess & Luke had a MOUNTAIN of different flavoured brownies! Delish!
Their attention to detail was outstanding, they even had their own personalised beer bottles!
Jess is a keen musician & performs in a band, they did a short three-song set after the first dance!
