A girl form Leeds and a boy from the capital. They met when she moved to London for work and adventure. He pursued her for months before they started dating and on a weekend away in the New Forest last summer he proposed and she said yes…
Both creatives, we knew that this was going to be a very visual and creative wedding…
The ceremony took place at The Deck, a venue hidden on top of the National Theatre along London’s busy Southbank. A glass box with retractable walls, it provides the perfect backdrop and breath-taking views of the London skyline. On a gorgeous summer’s day with a slight breeze, joined by their family and closest friends Tai and Janine said ‘I do’ overlooking the River Thames.
The day was beautiful, sunshine and blue skies as guests enjoyed a champagne reception out on the rooftop before walking along the Southbank for a private river cruise to the reception venue.
Many of the guests were non-Londoners so the cruise took in lots of the major London landmarks. Sipping cool glasses of Pimms and soaking up the sunshine they sailed past The Tate Modern, Millennium Bridge, St Paul’s, the Tower of London and through Tower Bridge before turning and heading back up river, past the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament and docking at the Westminster Boating Base for the wedding breakfast and a night of partying!
Tai, who runs a a residential & commercial design & build company, put all his professional skills to use to turn the reception space at the Westminster Boasting base into a wedding wonderland.
Fake grass flooring, a bar built out of timber, drapes, hundreds of hand-made paper cranes and a sea of the most gorgeous fresh flowers decked out the venue. Where they hosted the most fantastic party…
Tai and Janine, it was a joy to be a part of your special day, here are a few of our favourite photos!
Much love, Ally & AJ xx
How gorgeous is Janine’s bouquet? Created by the very talented Helen at Bluebell Creative.
You can just see the cube of The Deck hidden away on the rooftop of the National Theatre!
What a view for the ceremony!
Chip, Tai & Janine’s dog was a very special part of the wedding celebrations! (He was also a part of the proposal carrying the ring to Janine!)
The Deck overlooks the London skyline catching the historical St Paul’s to the left, over to the ultra modern Shard to the right!
Tai and Janine spent months hand making hundreds of paper cranes as decoration. In Japanese, Chinese and Korean cultures, the crane represents good fortune and longevity, referred to as the “bird of happiness” folding 1000 cranes must surely bring luck and happiness to this marriage!
In the evening guests were treated to freshly made pizza by The Pizza Project, a fabulous little company with a pizza oven in the back of a van – delicious!
As with all good weddings the night finished with music and dancing!
